Giving Back

Gift Tree – Adopt a Family

In the spirit of the giving season, each year Imagination sets up a Giving Tree. From its branches dangle wishes from families that Imagination “adopts.” Imagineers take the wishes and purchase the items listed, later delivering them to the family to make their Christmas a little brighter.

Ronald McDonald Meals from the Heart

Every month, a group of Imagination volunteers participates in the “Meals from the Heart” program at the Lincoln Park Ronald McDonald House in Chicago. The House provides a home away from home for families while their child receives medical treatment at nearby Children’s Memorial Hospital. Families stay in private rooms and have the chance to bond with other residents going through similar situations. Imagination is happy to provide these families with a home-cooked meal after their long day at the hospital.

Children’s Memorial Blankets

Every Holiday season the Imagination team takes a break from custom content and transforms into “blanketeers” for the Children’s Memorial Hospital.  The handmade blankets help provide a sense of security, warmth and comfort to young patients at the hospital.

Box Tops for Education

In 2011 the Imagination Cause Committee designed a box to sit in the Imagination kitchen where employees could drop in their collected Box Tops for Education. BTFE is a program sponsored by General Mills that allows families to collect box tops from several everyday products that they can turn into cash for their neighborhood schools. Imagination decided to adopt a local Chicago elementary school, Bethune Elementary, which has a 95% low-income student body, and we collect Box Tops throughout the year.

Joplin Relief Fund

In April 2011, a tornado ripped through Joplin, Mo., leveling about 25% of the town. One of Imagination’s longtime employees grew up in Joplin, so her Imagination family banded together and got creative to raise money. We even put a price tag on snacks and beer one Friday to raise money for the fund. In a few weeks, we raised $1,000 to donate to the local chapter of the American Red Cross, in the employee’s name.
