The National Headache Foundation’s (NHF) quarterly publication, Head Wise, exists to enhance the wellness of migraine and headache sufferers by reaching out to families, physicians, allied health care professionals and the public. The NHF and Head Wise accomplish their mission by providing educational and informational resources and advocating for the understanding of headache as a legitimate neurobiological disease.

In each issue, Head Wise strives to:

Educate headache sufferers and increase awareness of NHF programs and services; connect headache sufferers to physicians in their area; and connect headache sufferers to each other for support and engagement.

Every day, NHF members have three integrated ways to connect with Head Wise and each other: in print, online and through social media.

The magazine is mailed directly to 20,000 people, including NHF members, headache sufferers, and professional members of the NHF. In addition, packages of 5-20 magazines are sent to 4,000 doctors’ offices—identified as high prescribers of triptans—providing access to another 60,000 headache sufferers nationwide.

Since taking on the daily social media activities for NHF’s Facebook page, the number of “likes” doubled in the first three months.
